Sport England Funding

In September 2009, YCBC was awarded £7,200 from Sport England to allow our volunteer, poolside helpers to receive ASA training. In addition, SWS generously donated £2,398 to YCBC early in 2010. With this funding, the following people gained ASA qualifications:

Anna Nicholson gained an ASA Level 2 Teaching Aquatics qualification that was awarded in January 2010. Anna also gained an ASA Level 1 Coaching Aquatics qualification in April 2010, and in December she completed her training and qualified as an ASA Level 2 Coach. Anna also has obtained her certificate for Pool Rescue.

John Suddes gained an ASA Level 2 Teaching Aquatics qualification that was awarded in spring 2010. John also gained an ASA Level 1 Coaching Aquatics qualification in April 2010, and his ASA Level 2 Coaching in December.

Neil Hodgson gained an ASA Level 2 Teaching Aquatics qualification that was awarded in Spring 2010. Neil also gained an ASA Level 1 Coaching Aquatics qualification in April 2010. Neil will be registering for his ASA Level 2 Coaching course in Spring 2011.

Matthew Holmes achieved qualifications for both ASA Level 1 and Level 2 for Teaching Aquatics.

Carol Langan achieved qualifications for ASA Level 1 Teaching and Coaching Aquatics in Spring 2010. Carol also has obtained her certificate for Pool Rescue.

Betsy Pownall achieved qualifications for ASA Level 1 Teaching and Coaching Aquatics in Spring 2010.

Martin Holderness gained an ASA Level 1 Teaching aquatics qualification. Martin also has obtained his certificate for Pool Rescue.

Paul Gibbs gained an ASA Level 1 Teaching aquatics qualification.

Mark Beck gained an ASA Level 1 Teaching aquatics qualification.

Hannah Carty gained an ASA Level 1 Teaching aquatics qualification.

These qualifications are of great benefit to our club and are important for the quality of teaching and coaching offered at YCBC. As a club we are grateful not only for the funding that paid for the courses, but also to our volunteers who took time out of their lives and put in the substantial effort that is required to achieve these qualifications. In summary, we thank our generous funding bodies and the dedicated people who did the work!

(Please Note: other YCBC volunteers have received qualifications not listed above; the above people are listed as they were funded by the grants from Sport England and SWS and this list demonstrates how these monies were spent.)
